World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) is a global campaign that is celebrated annually to improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and encourage best practices among the public, One Health stakeholders, and policymakers, who all play a critical role in reducing the further emergence and spread of AMR. This online webinar will highlight ongoing research and initiatives to combat AMR in global aquaculture. Through presentations from experts in the field, including updates from the FAO Reference Centers for Antimicrobial Resistance and Aquaculture Biosecurity, the webinar will provide insights into current strategies for monitoring, mitigating, and managing AMR in aquatic animal production systems. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with AMR in aquaculture and the innovative approaches being developed to promote sustainable and biosecure aquaculture practices.

This event is co-hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the FAO Reference Center on Antimicrobial Resistance and Aquaculture Biosecurity, managed by the Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security at Mississippi State University.
