Mississippi State University's Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security (GCAHFS), in collaboration with the MSU Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine, and the FAO Reference Centre on Antimicrobial Resistance and Aquaculture Biosecurity hosted the third annual MSU Aquatic Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Workshop on October 8–9, 2026.
The workshop brought together researchers, federal agency representatives, and industry professionals from across the United States to share research, exchange expertise, and strengthen collaboration on antimicrobial resistance, aquatic animal health, diagnostics, and disease prevention.
The event also highlighted MSU's national and international leadership in aquatic health, including the recent five-year renewal of its designation as a Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Reference Centre on Antimicrobial Resistance and Aquaculture Biosecurity.
An MSU press release highlights the workshop, its importance to Mississippi's aquaculture industry, and the university's contributions to advancing sustainable aquatic food production worldwide.
