The Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security (GCAHFS) is proud to celebrate Isabella Garrard, an outstanding undergraduate student whose contributions to the center and leadership across Mississippi State University were recently highlighted in the university's "Our People" feature.

A sophomore in MSU's Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College majoring in data science with a concentration in marketing and supply chain analytics, Garrard has already made a remarkable impact through research, innovation, and student leadership.

Through MSU's BRIDGES Undergraduate Research Program, Garrard joined GCAHFS to support science communication and outreach initiatives. She played a leading role in launching the center's Instagram presence, developing a social media strategy, creating engaging content to showcase GCAHFS research, and building a customized Power BI dashboard to evaluate outreach performance.

Her work has strengthened GCAHFS's ability to communicate scientific discoveries, engage new audiences, and highlight the center's contributions to aquatic animal health and global food security.

Beyond GCAHFS, Garrard has demonstrated exceptional initiative and leadership. She co-founded MSU's Group for Undergraduate AI Research and Development, serves as president of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, and represents fellow students as both an Undergraduate Research Student Ambassador and a Data Science Student Ambassador.

As a first-generation college student from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Garrard's accomplishments reflect the opportunities available when student initiative, mentorship, and hands-on research experiences come together.

"Isabella has been an exceptional contributor to our team. Her creativity, initiative, and ability to apply data science to science communication have made a meaningful impact on our center. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and excited to see what she achieves next," said Dr. Stephen Reichley, GCAHFS Associate Director.

GCAHFS congratulates Isabella on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for the enthusiasm, dedication, and talent she brings to the center.
